Neurasthenia is a nervous weakness

Cause of occurrence:

- prolonged emotional tension leading to depletion of the nervous system.
- long-term somatic diseases that deplete the nervous system.
Neurasthenia includes conditions caused by mental trauma,
long-term illness, prolonged mental or physical stress, causingconcern and the need to overcome the resulting feeling of fatigue.
Neurastheniasis is caused by prolonged mental trauma, which leads to emotional stress and lack of sleep, which occur during prolonged stay in an unfavorable family or service environment, as well as a prolonged state of anxiety and great mental and physical stress associated with the presentation of unsustainable requirements to personality, for example, during preparation for responsible exams.
These causes cause diseases in persons easily weary, expressive, pedantic, with a developed sense of duty.

But neurasthenia can also develop in persons with a strong nervous system, but an inert, difficult-to-switch psyche, who find themselves in a situation that requires frequent and quick switching of attention.
In women, it can occur with prolonged sexual disharmony. The depleted factor is malnutrition, physical overwork without sufficient rest.

Symptoms of neurasthenia.
The main syndrome is irritable weakness.
Irritable weakness - increased irritability, rapid mental and physical fatigue.
Minor stimuli in such patients cause an increased nervous response.
Patients become hot-tempered, irritable, unbearable strong noise, bright light, etc.
There is an increased sensitivity to internal sensations and various parts of the body. This causes headache, dizziness, tinnitus, paresthesia, painful sensations in the area of the heart, stomach and other organs

Increased excitability is manifested in the form:

- enhancement of tendon reflexes,
- in the slight occurrence of vegetative reactions (palpitations,
redness or pale of the skin of the face, increased sweating),
- tremor of eyelids and fingers of outstretched hands,
- increased excitability is combined with rapid fatigue, which is manifested in a decrease in working capacity.

Patients complain of physical weakness, lack of vigilance. The deterioration of attention concentration leads to a deterioration in memory.
Emotional reactions of neurasthenia patients quickly arise and immediately go out.
Appetite can occur quickly and a sense of satiety also quickly appears.
The occurrence of erection is rapid and the same rapid ejaculation.
Depletion of the nervous system manifests itself in impatience. Waiting becomes impossible.

Sleep of neurasthenia patients.
Falling asleep is difficult. The dream is superficial, disturbing, with an abundance of dreams. When waking up, there is no cheer, freshness, but there is a sense of shattering, drowsiness.
By the middle of the day, in patients with neurasthenia, well-being improves, and by the evening it worsens.
Headache in neurasthenia.
Patients complain of a headache that manifests itself in a feeling of gravity in the head or blunt pains in the forehead. Pain is constant, intensifies with fatigue and excitement. In neurasthenia, a vasomatic headache (pulsating pain in the temple area).
Pain can be from a strain on the muscles of the neck and head.
Patients with neurasthenia realize that they are sick and seek treatment. However, they hide their illness from others.
The presence of patients with neurasthenia unpleasant sensations in various parts of the body leads to hypochondria and depressive mood.
If the factors causing neurasthenia act for a long time, then the disease takes on a chronic nature.
A prolonged course of the disease can occur with periods of exacerbation of symptoms.
More often, the disease lasts from several weeks to several months. But there is also a longer duration.
Hyperstenic and hypothetical forms of neurasthenia are distinguished.

Hyperstenic neurasthenia:
Symptoms:
- increased excitability
- irritability
- temper
- impatience
- emotional instability
- Feeling of tension
- Feeling anxious
- increased distraction
- dispersion
- haste
- difficulty falling asleep
- somatovegetative disorders (sweating, tachycardia, unpleasant sensations in the heart, headache,
dizziness).
Hypostenic form:
- depletion of attention
- increased fatigue
- reduced operability
- depletion of attention
- feeling shattered
- lack of freshness and vigor after sleep
- improvement of health in the middle of the day and deterioration by the end of the day
- somatovegetative disorders (heart pain, extrasystolia, heartbeat, sweating, dyspeptic disorders,
increased urination)
A neurasthenic symptom complex can manifest itself under the influence of injuries, infections,
intoxications, endocrine disorders, tumors and vascular diseases of the brain, bruising, etc.

Treatment of neurasthenia.

First of all, it is necessary to eliminate psycho-traumatic circumstances,
if they still affect the patient (go on vacation, change jobs, etc.).
Care at least for time from a traumatic situation will help not to waste the mental and physical strength of the patient. However, more often it happens that
it is impossible to leave the psycho-traumatic situation, and it is necessary to treat the patient.
